The Holter monitor test involves continuous recording of the heart’s electrical activity over a 24-hour period. In some cases, the doctor may request an extended 48-hour recording.

Recording important information

The recording gathers crucial information about heart rate, the regularity of beats, any potential pauses in electrical activity, and many other data points.

Easy

This examination is simple, painless, and requires no prior preparation.

An appointment

An appointment is necessary for this examination.

Installation on the chest

At the time of the appointment, small electrical sensors are placed on the chest. Securely attached to the skin, these sensors record the heart’s electrical activity.

For a better electrical contact

The keratin present on our skin can attenuate the amplitude of the heart’s electricity. To improve the capture of this electricity, the skin is lightly scraped with a small sandpaper-like paper.

A recording box to the waist

The sensors are connected to a box by small electrical wires. The staff attaches this box to the waist using a belt.

A button in the event of palpitations

There is an instant recording button on the device; simply press it if you experience palpitations. The recording will include a few seconds before and after the activation.

We know when the button is pressed

When reviewing the recording, we can identify the time when the person activated the recording and observe the cardiac electrical activity at that precise moment. It’s important to press the button only a few times to ensure enough recording space for the entire prescribed duration.

The device is afraid of water.

Once the setup is complete, the patient can leave.

All regular activities are allowed, but it’s important to avoid any contact with water. This means taking a bath or shower is prohibited, and of course, swimming in a pool is not recommended.

Even during the night

Everything must remain in place for the required recording duration. The patient must therefore sleep with this equipment.

Consequently, it’s important to choose appropriate clothing to ensure comfort during the night.

Returning the device

During the installation of the device, the staff specifies the time at which the patient must return the next day or the day after, depending on the case. At this agreed-upon time, the device is removed, and the results are communicated to the physician who prescribed the examination.

Patient may request a copy of the report for another doctor

It is possible to request the sending of a copy of the results to another physician by simply providing their name and contact information to the staff during the installation or removal of the Holter monitor.
