Cardiologist and Cardiac Electrophysiologist, CHUM

Dr. Isabelle Greiss is a renowned cardiologist and electrophysiologist at the Centre hospitalier de l’Université de Montréal (CHUM), where she has been practicing since 2006. She is recognized for her expertise in managing complex arrhythmias and her pivotal role in advancing cardiovascular medicine in Quebec.

After earning a Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy from Université Laval, Dr. Greiss pursued her medical studies at Université de Montréal, specializing in internal medicine and cardiology. She further honed her skills in cardiac electrophysiology at the San Raffaele University Hospital in Milan, Italy, focusing on the ablation of complex arrhythmias, including atrial fibrillation (AF).

A pioneer in her field, Dr. Greiss established the atrial fibrillation ablation program at CHUM and has been leading a multidisciplinary clinic dedicated to this condition since 2012. As an Associate Professor at the Université de Montréal Faculty of Medicine, she plays a vital role in teaching courses on electrocardiography and pharmacotherapy, sharing her vast knowledge with the next generation of physicians.

Academically and scientifically, Dr. Greiss is a clinician-researcher at the CHUM Research Centre. She actively participates in multicenter clinical trials on AF ablation and stroke prevention, contributing to significant advancements in treatment. She served on the executive committee of the FA-CILITER program, a large-scale Quebec initiative that followed nearly 4,000 patients with AF. Additionally, she co-led a longitudinal study monitoring over 2,000 of these patients.

As a consultant expert for the Institut national d’excellence en santé et en services sociaux (INESSS), Dr. Greiss has contributed to the development of clinical tools related to new anticoagulants. Her research interests include preventing thromboembolic events in AF patients and studying cases of AF in acute settings.

Dr. Greiss holds certification as a specialist from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. She is celebrated for her commitment to delivering exceptional care, educating future physicians, and driving innovative research to improve cardiovascular disease treatments.
