Dr. Dominique Auger earned her medical degree from the Université de Montréal in 2003, where she also completed her training in internal medicine and cardiology at affiliated hospitals, graduating in 2009. She is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, holding certifications in both internal medicine and cardiology.
Eager to further refine her skills, Dr. Auger specialized in advanced cardiac imaging. She honed her expertise at Leiden University Medical Centre in the Netherlands and the Royal Brompton Hospital in London. In 2014, she completed a PhD at Leiden University, focusing on advanced cardiac imaging in heart failure.
Upon returning to Canada, Dr. Auger joined the Centre hospitalier de l’Université de Montréal (Hôtel-Dieu) as a cardiologist. She focused on heart failure, echocardiography, and cardiac MRI, combining clinical practice with academic responsibilities. From 2012 to 2017, she also practiced at the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC), where she expanded her experience in personalized patient care.
In 2017, Dr. Auger moved to the United Kingdom to continue her career. She joined West Herts Hospitals in 2018, where she led the heart failure team and established a nationally recognized virtual heart failure unit. In 2023, she became part of the heart failure team at Imperial College and practices cardiac MRI at St. Mary’s Hospital. There, she skillfully balances her clinical and academic career with her life as a mother of three children.
Dr. Auger has authored over 40 peer-reviewed scientific publications and contributed a book chapter on cardiac MRI in myocarditis. She is widely respected for her conscientious, compassionate, and personalized approach, earning her high esteem among both patients and colleagues.
Beyond her professional pursuits, Dr. Auger is passionate about music and art and dedicates herself to several causes close to her heart, always with the same devotion that defines her professional approach.
