Academic Training
Dr. Maxime Laflamme obtained his medical degree from the Université de Sherbrooke between 2003 and 2007. He then completed his specialized training in cardiac surgery at the Université de Montréal from 2007 to 2013.
During his residency, he also completed a Master of Science degree at the Université de Montréal (2010–2012), focusing on endothelial function, an important area of research for understanding cardiovascular disease.
International Specialized Training
To further develop his surgical expertise, Dr. Laflamme pursued advanced training in Europe.
He completed a fellowship in minimally invasive cardiac surgery at the Herzzentrum Leipzig in Germany from 2013 to 2014, a center internationally recognized for its expertise in advanced cardiac surgical techniques.
He then completed a fellowship in valve reconstruction at the Saint-Luc University Clinics in Brussels, Belgium from 2014 to 2015, where he refined his expertise in advanced heart valve repair techniques.
Clinical Practice at IUCPQ
Since 2015, Dr. Laflamme has been practicing as an adult cardiac surgeon at the Quebec Heart and Lung Institute (IUCPQ).
