Education
Dr. Mario Sénéchal obtained his medical degree from the Université de Montréal in 1989. He then completed his residency in internal medicine at the Université de Sherbrooke in 1993, followed by a specialization in cardiology at Université Laval in 1996.
He also holds a Diploma of Inter-University Studies (DIU) in immunology from Université François-Rabelais in Tours, France. He completed a fellowship in heart failure, cardiac transplantation, and echocardiography at Hôpital de la Pitié-Salpêtrière in Paris, as well as at the Sarver Heart Center in Tucson, Arizona, in 2003.
Clinical Practice
Dr. Sénéchal is a cardiologist at the Institut universitaire de cardiologie et de pneumologie de Québec (IUCPQ). He practices within the echocardiography service as well as in heart failure and cardiac transplantation programs.
He is also the director of the cardiac sarcoidosis clinic, where he is involved in the care of patients with this complex and relatively uncommon condition.
Leadership and Responsibilities
Dr. Sénéchal is the director of the heart failure and transplantation program at IUCPQ. He is also responsible for the research training program within the institution.
Highly involved in the scientific community, he has served as chair of the scientific committee of the Quebec Heart Failure Society.
Teaching and Academic Involvement
Dr. Sénéchal is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Medicine of Université Laval. He actively participates in the training of medical students and residents, contributing to the development of the next generation of cardiologists.
Research and Publications
Dr. Sénéchal has authored more than 150 scientific articles and abstracts and is actively involved in the peer review process for several scientific journals.
