About Gilles Goulet

Graduated in medicine from the University of Sherbrooke in 1988, Dr. Gilles Goulet completed his residency in internal medicine at affiliated hospitals. He then specialized in cardiology and worked at teaching hospitals affiliated with the universities of Sherbrooke, Montreal, and Quebec for several years starting from 1991. Some time later, he undertook additional training in interventional cardiology (hemodynamic science) at the University of Sherbrooke Hospital Center in 1993.

For 25 years, Dr Goulet primarily focused his career on the treatment of coronary artery disease, teaching, and clinical research mainly at the Centre Hospitalier Universitaire de Montreal (CHUM).

Today, his interest lies more in patients and their better understanding of cardiovascular problems, their symptoms, issues, and treatments. In 2017, he created an online platform aimed at popularizing cardiology and its examinations, www.icardio.ca, with the help of several Canadian collaborators.

The integration of the patient into their healthcare and that of their peers, as patient-partners, is essential and the responsibility of all. This new initiative is strongly advocated by the entire medical community and, obviously, by Dr. Goulet and his close partners. It involves close collaboration between patients, caregivers, and healthcare professionals in discussions, decisions, and actions related to their care. The same applies to the website www.icardio.ca, which proves to be the most impressive multilingual reference and understanding tool for cardiology. This partnership now falls under what is rightly called knowledge transfer or rather knowledge sharing.
