Dr. Benoit Coutu graduated in medicine from the Université de Montréal in 1981. He initially practiced general medicine for three years before pursuing specialized training in internal medicine and cardiology, which he completed in 1990 within the Université de Montréal network. He then furthered his expertise in cardiac electrophysiology, becoming a specialist in the treatment of heart rhythm disorders.
His primary areas of interest include cardiac arrhythmias, as well as the implantation and monitoring of pacemakers and implantable cardioverter-defibrillators (ICDs). Dr. Coutu is also actively involved in clinical research, participating in national and international projects, contributing to advancements in cardiology treatments.
Today, Dr. Coutu is an Associate Professor of Medicine at the Université de Montréal, where he trains the next generation of cardiologists while continuing his research and clinical practice.
