Dr Aly Ghoneim is a cardiac surgeon at the Centre hospitalier de l’Université de Montréal, one of Canada’s leading academic medical centers. He specializes in minimally invasive cardiac surgery, an approach aimed at reducing surgical trauma and promoting faster recovery.
Training
Dr Ghoneim completed dual residencies in cardiac surgery at Cairo University and McGill University.
He further pursued advanced training through fellowships at the Montreal Heart Institute, Western University, and Institut universitaire de cardiologie et de pneumologie de Québec.
Professional Career
Before joining CHUM, Dr Ghoneim founded and directed Saskatchewan’s first Minimally Invasive Cardiac Surgery (MICS) Program. This initiative enabled the introduction of advanced surgical techniques that significantly improved patient outcomes.
