Dr. Donald Palisaitis is a prominent cardiologist with a remarkable academic and professional background. He obtained his medical degree from the University of Sherbrooke in 1982, marking the beginning of a career dedicated to medical excellence. His quest for knowledge led him to obtain certification from the Royal College and membership in internal medicine at McGill University in 1986. He then furthered his skills in cardiology at the University of Toronto between 1986 and 1987, before earning his diploma from the American Board of Internal Medicine the same year. His commitment to advancing cardiology subsequently led him to pursue postdoctoral training in interventional cardiology at the Montreal Heart Institute, affiliated with the University of Montreal, from 1987 to 1988.
Appointments
Since 1988, Dr. Palisaitis has held the position of Assistant Professor of Medicine and has practiced as a cardiologist at the Sacré-Cœur Hospital in Montreal, where he also served as director of coronary care from 1994 to 1996. His passion for teaching also led him to join the faculty of medicine at the University of Montreal in 1988. He later served as chief of the cardiology division at the Sacré-Cœur Hospital in Montreal from 2000 to 2006, before becoming director of the adult cardiology training program at the University of Montreal, a position he has held since 2006. Additionally, Dr. Palisaitis has been an active member of the Cardiology Specialty Committee of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada since 2006.
