About Gilles Goulet

Dr. Gilles Goulet obtained his medical degree from the University of Sherbrooke in 1988. He then completed his residency in internal medicine in hospitals affiliated with the same university.

He subsequently specialized in cardiology, continuing his training in university-affiliated hospitals linked to the Universities of Sherbrooke, Montreal, and Quebec starting in 1991.

In 1993, he completed additional training in interventional cardiology (hemodynamics) at the Sherbrooke University Hospital Center.

Clinical Practice, Teaching, and Research

For more than 25 years, Dr. Goulet focused his career on the treatment of coronary artery disease, while remaining actively involved in teaching and clinical research, primarily at the Centre hospitalier de l’Université de Montréal (CHUM).

Commitment to Patients and Knowledge Transfer

Over time, his interests shifted toward improving patients’ understanding of cardiovascular diseases, including their symptoms, challenges, and treatments.

In 2017, he founded the platform www.icardio.ca, a digital resource developed in collaboration with numerous healthcare professionals across Canada. The site aims to make cardiology more accessible by providing clear, reliable, and multilingual information.

Patient-Partner Vision

Dr. Goulet is a strong advocate of the patient-partner model. This approach is based on close collaboration between patients, their families, and healthcare professionals in decisions related to care.

Now widely recognized and promoted within the medical community, this vision places the patient at the center of their care journey and encourages true knowledge sharing.

An Evolving Initiative

The iCardio.ca platform is part of this knowledge-sharing approach. It has become a major multilingual resource in cardiology, helping patients better understand their condition and supporting their active involvement in their care.
