About Paolo Costi

Cardiologist and Cardiac Electrophysiologist, CHUM

Dr. Paolo Costi is an accomplished cardiologist and electrophysiologist known for his extensive clinical experience and leadership in cardiovascular care in Quebec.

A graduate of Université de Montréal’s medical program in 1983, Dr. Costi completed his residencies in internal medicine and cardiology by 1988. He further specialized with a postdoctoral fellowship in cardiac electrophysiology at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, which he completed in 1989.

Since then, Dr. Costi has been practicing at the Centre hospitalier de l’Université de Montréal (CHUM), dedicating over three decades to cardiac electrophysiology. He served as head of the Electrophysiology Division in the CHUM’s Cardiology Department from 2009 to 2019 before being appointed as head of the Cardiology Department, showcasing his commitment to clinical and organizational excellence.

In addition to his role at CHUM, Dr. Costi has been a consulting cardiologist at Hôpital Pierre-Le Gardeur since 1989 and at CH Haut-Richelieu since 2010, extending his specialized care to a diverse patient population.

As an Adjunct Clinical Professor at the Université de Montréal Faculty of Medicine, Dr. Costi plays an active role in medical education. He is responsible for teaching cardiovascular pharmacology, sharing his expertise with future healthcare professionals.

Committed to advancing his field, Dr. Costi served as Vice President of the Association des cardiologues du Québec from 2007 to 2017. During this tenure, he chaired the Continuing Professional Development Committee, contributing to the enhancement and modernization of cardiology knowledge across the province.
