Atrial Septal Defect (ASD)
An Atrial Septal Defect (ASD) is a congenital abnormality characterized by an opening between the two atria of the heart. Often silent during childhood, it may be diagnosed in adulthood. Depending on its size and its impact on the right side of the heart, simple monitoring or closure by catheter or surgery may be recommended.
