It was recognized that an obstruction in a coronary artery could lead to the death of a portion of the heart muscle.<\/p><p>However, the cause of this obstruction remained uncertain. There was no specific treatment capable of addressing the underlying cause of a heart attack.<\/p><p data-start=\"544\" data-end=\"719\">Management was mainly focused on relieving pain \u2014 particularly with morphine \u2014 strict bed rest, and careful monitoring for complications, especially heart rhythm disturbances.<\/p><p data-start=\"721\" data-end=\"835\">Everything was done to avoid even the slightest effort, including the use of stool softeners to prevent straining.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div
