    Dre Mireille Aylwin is a family physician who began her practice in 2012. After two enriching years providing locum services in remote areas such as C\u00f4te-Nord, Gasp\u00e9sie, and the Far North, she expanded her horizons by pursuing a Master\u2019s degree in Medical Anthropology at the University of Edinburgh in Scotland. Her master’s project explored the medical, legal, and social context that enabled the legalization of medical assistance in dying (MAID) in Quebec.<\/p>

    Upon her return in 2015, she joined the home care team in the South-West Verdun area and worked in the emergency department of Verdun Hospital. She serves as the medical coordinator for the Interdisciplinary Support Group for MAID (GIS) in her CIUSSS and is a member of the scientific committee of Palli-Science. She contributed to the INESSS efforts to develop the National Medical Protocols for the Administration of Medical Assistance in Dying (MAID) in Adults<\/em> (2022) and the Administration of Continuous Palliative Sedation (CPS) in End-of-Life Adults<\/em> (2022).<\/p>

    Dre Aylwin also played a key role in establishing the Acute Home Care project at Verdun CLSC, which aims to provide rapid access to a nurse and physician at home for elderly patients with acute health issues.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
