    About Iqbal H. Jaffer<\/h4>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

    Dr Iqbal H. Jaffer is a cardiac surgeon and Assistant Professor of Surgery at McMaster University. He also serves as Program Director for the Cardiac Surgery Residency Program, playing a key role in training future cardiac surgeons.<\/p>

    His clinical practice focuses on aortic valve interventions, including both surgical approaches and transcatheter techniques (TAVR). He has a particular interest in optimizing care pathways, including early discharge protocols and the management of aortic disease.<\/p>

    Training<\/strong><\/p>

    Dr Jaffer completed a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) at McMaster University (2001\u20132005).<\/p>

    He obtained his medical degree (MBBS) from the University of Queensland in 2009, followed by a general internship with Queensland Health (2009\u20132010).<\/p>

    He then completed his residency in cardiac surgery at McMaster University (2011\u20132019).<\/p>

    Alongside his clinical training, he completed a PhD at McMaster University (2013\u20132017), reflecting his strong commitment to research.<\/p>

    He subsequently completed a fellowship in structural cardiology and TAVR imaging at McMaster University (2019\u20132020).<\/p>

    He holds certification from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (FRCSC).<\/p>

    Teaching and Academic Involvement<\/strong><\/p>

    As Program Director of the Cardiac Surgery Residency Program at McMaster University, Dr Jaffer is deeply involved in surgical education and mentorship.<\/p>

    He contributes actively to training initiatives, including simulation-based education and international training programs.<\/p>
