Dr Isabelle Ruel has a degree in biochemistry from Laval University. She subsequently completed graduate studies at the Department of Human Nutrition at Laval University. Research conducted during her master's and doctoral studies focused on the genetic and metabolic characterization of lipoprotein lipase and hepatic lipase deficiency, two enzymes essential for lipid metabolism in humans.
Since completing her studies, Isabelle has been working at the Research Institute of the McGill University Health Center of Montreal (MUHC), PQ.
Her basic and clinical research work in the Cardiovascular Genetics Laboratory aims to better understand the genetic and metabolic bases of lipid and lipoprotein disorders in humans.
She is currently the National Coordinator of the Canadian Register for Familial Hypercholesterolemia (www.fhcanada.net).
