Annalisa Maggio is a PhD student in immunometabolism, investigating the interferon regulation of lipid metabolism in atherosclerosis and increased cardiovascular risk in autoimmune disease.
Before starting her PhD she took a BSc in Medical Biotechnology and an MSc in Medical Biotechnology and Molecular Medicine, curriculum neuroscience. She then worked at UCL in London where she gained skills in immunotherapy (chimeric antigen receptors) in brain tumours.
Lastly, as a Research Assistant at the University of Oxford UK, she studied protein-protein interactions in the Parkinson model of the disease.
