Neprylisin Inhibitor / Antagonist Angiotensin Receptor
Sacubitril / Valsartan [Entresto ™]
The combination of Sacubitril / Valsartan is used exclusively with patients with heart failure with lowered ejection fraction.
This medication was quickly beneficial in the first weeks of its use.
This is a replacement therapy for ACEIs or ARBs in patients who meet a number of specific criteria, including having symptoms of heart failure despite optimal treatment of the disease.
The Sacubitril portion of the drug acts by avoiding the degradation of certain enzymes beneficial to the proper functioning of the heart. The Valsartan portion acts as an ARA (see this section for more detail).
The Entresto ™ is used twice a day.
The potential side effect is mainly dizziness. Coughing can also occur.
